Code List Optimization Project Brief

The Code List Optimization schema for OpenTravel Message Suite has a second quarter 2013 target completion time frame.

Inception: The Code List Optimization Project began in September, 2012 as a means of simplifying the 149 tables with a combined 4,620 code table items that comprise the OpenTravel Code List MS-Excel spreadsheet that has historically been included in the XML Message Suite publication download.

Challenge: To eliminate increasing complexity that has accreted since its inception by reducing redundant and illogical entries and improve usability for a wide ranging and growing number of implementers who rely on the Code List to exchange descriptive information using  OpenTravel schema products or who utilize the Code List to support data quality requirements for internal content data stores initiatives.
