Announcements: This project culminated in the CR-1 Release. Project Page TabsSummary & MeetingsSummary: The OpenTravel 2.0 Project is working to define a common set of “standard vocabulary-based” components for the travel industry from which XML messages are constructed. The OpenTravel 2.0 schema will reflect the changing way XML is used in the travel marketplace by providing: A common vocabulary; Improved modularity; Distinct version and library namespaces; Faster specification enhancements; Reduced file size; and Application and partner tool friendliness. Meetings: The OpenTravel 2.0 Project team meets every other Monday from 2:00 to 3:30pm, US/Eastern, Webex. Challenge: To help our members produce high quality products—while reducing product development costs and realizing faster time-to-value—it became evident that OpenTravel schema design must be re-architected to reflect the changing way XML is designed, managed and consumed by global market distribution systems. Project Objectives: Model driven open standards environment—place the emphasis on a common information exchange model that is platform and architectural style neutral and supports transformations to XML and other class-based languages such as Java or .NET. Canonical common information exchange model—provide data components for multiple travel sectors with summary, detail and query information that facilitate a travel industry glossary that allows business teams, development teams and trading partners to speak the same language. Re-architect the OpenTravel XML standard—introduce XML constructs that support robust distribution systems and thin client applications and provide organic extensions throughout the specification. Create the OpenTravel XML Object Suite—provide a reference XML implementation model with XML Type and Service Libraries.
