Transport Workgroup

Led by the OpenTravel Architecture Workgroup, this project will define and document a reference set of common core reservation services using OpenTravel best practices that could be implemented by any implementer of the OpenTravel Specification Rail messages. In some cases this would be used by solution providers creating an industry offering; in other cases this may be used by a member to prepare their current legacy solution for modernization by organizing appropriate functions around the OpenTravel model.

The Ground Transportation Project is chartered with defining a set of OpenTravel service and supporting generic schemas that are closely aligned with common ground transportation industry business functionality and cover the scope of web services required to implement a ground transportation service reservation system.

The Virtual Seat Maps Project is working on schema functionality which will enable implementers to create a virtual seat map between different types of aircraft based on identifying premium seats in situations when seat re-assignment is required.

The Air Operations Project is chartered with creating a set of preliminary member-identified key operational messages, including baggage, that will enhance OpenTravel schema products.

The Air Merchandising Project is focused on creating a new set of OpenTravel schemas, including enhancements to messages and common elements that are needed to support web services required by modern air reservation systems.

The Semantic Car Offer or "multimodal" Project is chartered with producing a car rental ontology along with supporting business objects and implementer resources that will support richer cross-domain searching, search engine optimization and decision technologies that are being used to provide consumers with new and better methods that complement their travel search.
